The week before Christmas. The pace has been frantic with places to go and lists to cross off.

Overnight a special holiday gift arrived. The city is wrapped in sparkling white.

I stand at the window admiring the promise of something fresh and new as the radio announcer says the two words people all over town are hoping to hear, “Snow day”.

I sigh and release tension I hadn’t realized I was holding onto. My focus narrows as my mind moves inward.

Today is for home, for family, for me. Tomorrow the rush of the season and its obligations will resume; but today I have a snow day.
I finally have frost for the frosted window pane prompt of the Write Before Christmas!

I agree and feel your joy! We’re never to old to kick up our heels at a snow day pronouncement! Enjoy.
It does bring back fond memories.
Of course I meant “too” old, of course I did.
I love snow, and I really miss it sometimes. I love this: “My focus narrows as my mind moves inward.” I really enjoy that stage of winter. Hope you have a fun set of holidays!
You too! Winter is my favorite time of year. I am all about hunkering down, sipping some tea and hanging out with the ones I love.
How nice for you!! I adore that after snow silence – beauty and calm. I’m sure you’ve had a wonderful day!
Beauty and calm is right. My stress level decreased exponentially!
Nothing like a snow day!
