Sunbeams

Driving down the highway one overcast day the miles began to blur.  It might have been Kansas, might have been Oklahoma.  It didn’t much matter, the whole world had turned gray. Just when things looked their most bleak the tiniest chink appeared in the cloud cover; and through that one small area the sun was able to shine.

Because they shone amidst gloom and storm clouds these few beams of light shone all the more brightly. And I appreciated them so much more for having known the gray skies.

My Bigger Picture Moment.  Everyone is gathering at Hyacynth’s.  I am also sharing at Wordless Wednesday at Project Alicia.

About may

I am a married mother of three fabulous young adults. I have been married to one great guy for over a quarter of a century and hope we haven't reached the halfway point of our marriage yet. Writing helps me sort things out and allows me to avoid unsavory tasks that I probably should be doing. I've reached middle age in middle America and am anxious to see what comes next.

May, this is just beautiful… I hope things are looking up for you (sort of pun-intended)

    Blessings -

I love seeing sunbeams peaking through the clouds. They remind me of a visual of what I thought heaven looked like when I was a kid.

Yes! I kept thinking of heaven every single time I would look at that shot. Who is to say we were wrong in our visual?

  3. Lovely. I have a photo like that from years ago – it was after a storm and the sun started to shine behind a big storm cloud. Beams bursting out all over the place! This makes me want to go dig for that photo. :)

True for a long, long drive, true for the sky and true for life. Really cool photo.

Loved the photo! Sunbeams on a gray day are such a welcome sight. Last night I was standing outside the house as the sun was setting. It was a huge round ball of red. Very red. I had never seen it quite like that before. It was beautiful. Usually you can see colors of red, orange and yellow around the sun as it sets. This was a very unusual site. I ran in the house to get the camera, but it had dropped out of sight before I got back. I love nature.

It came up a bright orange today like I hadn’t seen before. I was on the highway again and couldn’t get a photo, but it was stunning.

Such simple yet gorgeous truth and loveliness tucked in your words and in that photo. Thank you for the reminder as we drive through another day of gray on vacation. :-)

Oh, that is tough when you finally get vacation and the sky goes gray on you. We spent a week at Door County like that one year. The slightest hint that the gloom might break and we were running to the beach!

  7. beautiful picture – beautiful thoughts! thank you for sharing

That’s beautiful. We had similar skies tonight and I loved the way the sun was peeking through the clouds.

  9. Oh, lovely. And what a cool shot!!

One of my favorite things about being in Oregon is the great expanse of SKY!! There’s nothing like seeing the great sky part like that, giving way to light!

Oh, and your Oregon shots have been absolutely wonderful. We didn’t manage to get away this summer. So, they have been a real treat to me.
